Review till 15th Feb 2022
In this newsletter we will talk about how first 15-days of February were for the MoreThanMarks team!
Hi,
I know you love us so here I am (Simran) running MoreThanMarks (MTM) - a non-profit effort to improve education.
In the last newsletter, I wrote about our progress till 30th Jan. Hope you read it, if not click here.
This newsletter is all about how Feb has started and where we have reached in the last 15-days. This report will help you know more about our efforts and where we might need your support.
Please advise me if there are other points you would want me to include in the future!
It will take almost 10-minutes of your time to read this, but it will help you know where is MoreThanMarks headed. I hope you don’t mind spending it 😉.
TL;DR
We are expanding our school collaborations in Mumbai.
Our paid bootcamps are running well with very high student retention rate.
We have planned 4+ new bootcamps for school students this month.
Our Instagram family has grown to 700+!
What does MoreThanMarks do?
MTM provides skill learning to school students. We believe that each student should be equipped with the right skills.
We serve school students, where we teach them skills that help them understand the right career prospects.
We also teach students at Orphanages in Mumbai, where we help them learn digital skills.
As an experiment, we have now started the classes of working professionals and Old-age homes. The aim is to help them use their digital devices.
Key Metrics
True North KPI:
We truly believe that our students are our true metric. So, this graph tells us how MTM has expanded in the last 15-days.
How you can help us improve?
Direct contact w schools principals for 5-days skill training bootcamps.
Direct contact with government to run Digital Literacy Program.
What do we feel good about?
We have around 10+ bootcamps running every month.
We have scaled up from 40 happy students in June 2020 to 2000+ happy students in Feb 2021.
Every team member is connecting with schools every single day. The aim is to help more students benefit from our program.
We have successfully conducted 2+ skill training bootcamps for working professionals.
Students at “Pranav Kanya Sangh” who didn’t even know what Internet is, can now use Google and YouTube for their studies.
A Rotary club member who is also a college professor has volunteered to teach a batch of our students.
What are we freaked out about?
Converting schools for our program is much tougher than we imagined.
We had secured partnerships with two schools last month but were not able to conduct any bootcamp there, hoping to get them done this month.
Our engagement has dropped on Twitter.
We are had some technical issues with our website and were not able to share our website with schools. So we are planning to shift to Notion.
I know it’s sad but we can do this together!
What’s next?
Planning to conduct a students-teach-skills competition for students all over India.
Planning to run our digital literacy program at the state level.
Planning to start a learning pod at Sharda Mata by Feb.
Helping students get paid internships.
Making students self-learners by helping them learn through Beyond Exams
User Stories
Our students have started learning from BeyondExams. Here is what Ashwini, one of our students says about self-learning.
Feedback from our Digital Literacy program running in Mumbai. When students joined they didn’t even know to use mouse and now they have learned to play games!
Thanks
Big shout out to Sai Prasad Pujari and Sagar Tiwari for helping us get 2 school partnerships in Mumbai.
